Last week to give public feedback on our K-5 Language Arts curriculum recommendation to the School Board!
The Ashland School District is adopting new K-5 English Language Arts Curriculum for the 2025-26 school year. A core team of Ashland Educators have been reviewing curriculum since September following guidance from the Oregon Department of Education and The Reading League, a non-profit organization that supports research-based instruction.
The committee has moved forward with recommendation for adoption to the Ashland School Board at the March public meeting. The public has the opportunity to review the materials that are being considered and give feedback until Thursday, March 20th.
The committee’s first choice for adoption is a combination of the Modules from EL Learning’s Core ELA program, supplemented by the 95% Group’s explicit instruction on the components of reading. We also considered Wit and Wisdom and its explicit reading instruction partner curriculum, Fundations. The Fundations curriculum only extends to third grade. If you would like to review the materials in person, or virtually, you can provide the committee and the board with feedback.
