Amy Ming: Behavior Health Specialist Intern (1 day/week) Amy joined Willow Wind in September as an intern in Mental Health Counseling through SOU. Amy moved to Ashland after retiring from a prior teaching job at the university level. While at Willow Wind, Amy works with students both individually and in small groups. Amy is thoroughly enjoying her work with younger children and loves living in this beautiful town of Ashland.

National School Counseling Week, Feb 5-9. Please join Willow Wind in celebrating and appreciating our Child Development Specialist, Student Advocate and Behavior Health Specialist Intern this week (and all weeks!). Our counseling team works hard to support all our students with the development of social-emotional, problem-solving, and sound decision-making skills. They provide critical guidance and support of the structures and practices that support our children’s mental and emotional well-being and by extension, that of our staff and parents. Thank you, team!!! Britt Humphrey: Child Development Specialist and BHS Behavior Health Specialist (2 days/week) Britt Humphrey: Child Development Specialist and BHS Behavior Health Specialist (2 days/week) This is Britt’s second year working in the Ashland School District as both a CDS and BHS. She also provides clinical supervision to our district Behavior Health Specialists and two of our current interns. Britt has lived and worked throughout Oregon and is happy to be part of the Ashland school community! She now divides her work week between Willow Wind and Bellview. As a CDS, she works with individuals and small groups and teaches SEL (Social Emotional Learning) lessons. As a BHS, she supports students with more complex needs for more extended periods of time. Britt shares that the “best part of my days are laughing and sharing stories in small group settings. What a great bunch of students and families!” Outside of school, Britt loves spending time with her extended and blended family, and friends from many chapters of her life. She also loves to travel, explore nature, create art and most recently, has developed a passion for hot yoga!

A successful Winter Homegrown Lunch, It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces coming back for seconds and thirds of a very veggie heavy pasta. Thanks to the parents and teachers who helped support the students!

The "Winter Cooking Chaos" January elective used the cilantro, mint, lettuce, carrots, and radish growing in the Greenhouse Classroom to make salad rolls last week.

Greetings, Ashland School District Community! The Board of Directors would like to share a quick progress update in the search for the district’s next Superintendent. The recruitment window for applications ended on December 28th, 2023. In the coming weeks, the Board will review applications and conduct preliminary interviews to determine semi-finalists. These semi-finalists will be invited to interview in-person with the board and the Community Interview Panel later this month. If you haven’t applied for the Community Interview Panel, it’s not too late! This volunteer group of students, staff members, parents, and community members will have the opportunity to interview Superintendent finalists on January 23rd. If you’re interested in learning more or would like to apply, please visit ashland.k12.or.us/supsearch. The deadline to apply is noon on Monday, January 8th. If you have questions, concerns, or input about the Superintendent Search process, the Board wants to know! You can connect with the entire School Board by emailing school.board@ashland.k12.or.us. We had a wonderful Juggling Show today presented by the students who have been taking a juggling class. What a fun way to close out the term.

Farm Stand soap making! Students created a financial plan for startup costs to discover a sale price for their soap bars. They blended a delightful hand/body soap that will be available for sale at the Farm Stand this spring. Some bars include luffa from our garden for an extra scrubby experience.

As part of the Leadership Class's Sources of Strength Week, all students had a chance to decorate the BELONGING TREE today at Willow Wind.
