It's Classified Appreciation Week at Walker Elementary School, and we're taking a moment to recognize the hardworking individuals who make Walker School a wonderful place to teach and learn. Our classified employees, from custodians to crossing guards, play a vital role in the daily operations of our school and contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment for our students. To show our gratitude, our incredible Walker PTO wanted to do something special so they surprised them with a spread of delicious food, thermos mugs, and a salad bar. We are grateful for each and every one of our classified employees and their unwavering dedication and hard work. In honor of Random Acts of Kindness Day, the 5th graders at Walker School participated in an activity to build belonging within their school community and to recognize themselves in spreading kindness! The Ashland School district is assessing school attendance zone boundaries for Bellview, Helmand and Walker Elementary schools to adjust for changing school populations. We will be sharing the committee consensus scenario for feedback in a drop in open house on January 12th between 6:00-8:00 PM at the Ashland High School Library. You will see the consensus scenario, have the opportunity to ask questions, and an opportunity to provide feedback. Childcare, snacks, and Spanish interpretation will be available. November 1st & 2nd are Dià de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. This Mexican holiday is celebrated to honor & remember loved ones who have passed. The students & families in our Latino Student Union, along with Ms. Julie have created a beautiful ofrenda in our library. #DiadelosMuertos

October is National Principal’s Month! Help us celebrate our amazing leaders in Ashland.

Today at Walker School we celebrated Indigenous Peoples Day with a beautiful assembly. We were inspired by our powerful Native students through story, video, & song. We danced a Circle Dance led by Native Elder, Dan Wahpepah. He gifted us with medicine teachings & reminded us of the importance of caring for our Earth for the next seven generations. We are grateful for our community & so happy to continue in this important tradition.
