Each year on the Friday before Martin Luther King's Birthday, Walker School recreates a civil rights march so students can experience what this historic event felt like. In the weeks before the march, students study the history of the civil rights era and learn songs that were sung. On Friday we gather in front of Walker to march to Southern Oregon University. Leading the way is the dove that hangs in our cafteria. At the university, classes sing songs, students present their practiced speeches and we hear from a guest speaker.
