The Lady Grizzlies of Ashland Oregon are excited to announce the 2024-2025 Girls Basketball Season!
2023-2024 was the first of a rebuilding period for Ashland Girls Varsity Basketball. Head coach Alison Gida, an Ashland native has stepped up to reignite the flame that once burned bright for the girls basketball program. She brings with her the expertise of higher collegiate level basketball. Playing in both Division 1, and NAIAl conferences, she finished her successful player career at Southern Oregon University. Since graduating, she has spent many years coaching and training throughout the Rogue Valley. In Gida’s first season as head coach, Ashland’s Lady Grizzlies faced challenges that were to be expected. While introducing a new coaching staff, and style of play, the players adapted to the changes and found their resilience in navigating a new system. The mission for our student athletes is to strengthen their basketball skills and expand their minds as they learn how to be successful on and off the court. Our 3 -18 record reflected that of a transition year. The players demonstrated the learning that took place throughout the season, in practice, and in games. In our final and most exciting game of the season, we secured a victory against Churchill. Our team left the court with hope for next year, higher expectations for themselves, gratitude for the experience, and excitement for what next season holds. In this second season of rebuilding, we hope to grow as a team, and build local support through attendance and fundraisers. We would like to thank all the families, and local businesses for their previous and continued support of the Lady Ashland Grizzlies. We hope to represent Ashland in a positive way and play ball! Go Grizz.
Thanks,
Allison Gida
