Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for your continued support of Ashland High School, this has been a phenomenal start to another amazing year at AHS. We are looking forward to conferences, and continuing our partnership to best support your student.
The schedule is as follows. Teachers will be in their classrooms (or another central location on campus) for drop in conferences at the following times:
- October 30, 2017 from 2:00-4:00, 5:00-8:00
- October 31, 2017 from 11:30-2:30
You can drop-in with your student at any point during this time frame that is convenient for you to meet with your student’s teachers. For teachers who are part time, a drop- in schedule will be sent out by the end of the week. We strongly encourage you and your student to attend.
We regularly review grades and attendance for all of our students to ensure that they are on-track for graduation and making positive behavioral choices. If there are any concerns that arise during our review regarding your student, we will be reaching out to your family to set up a more structured conference. The goal of this conference is to team with your family to put supports in place for increased success moving forward.
Additionally, if your student has been identified as Talented and Gifted, conferences are a wonderful time to provide input into your students individualized plan. If you are interested in meeting regarding your students TAG plan, please contact Jay Preskenis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to checking in with teachers, it remains critical that students review their Personalized Education Plan (PEP) with parents or guardians. By having students assess how they are progressing, it grants them the ability to see how far they have come and how far they still need to go to reach their educational goals.
The bulk of the work students do on their PEP is done in Grizzly Academy and Senior Seminar. Therefore, if you have a Freshman or Senior, your student will soon be assigned to review this plan with you at home, along with a family “assignment.” They will then return their PEP with feedback and changes, as part of those courses. Sophomores and Juniors will be encouraged to do the same at-home review of their PEP, with some incentives in Community for those classes that have the most PEP participation. Please look for details on this in the weeks following the drop-in conferences.
We look forward to seeing you at conferences on October 30th and 31th. Thank you for your partnership.
