RULES REGARDING COMMUNITY USE OF DISTRICT FACILITIES
The primary purpose and use of school and related buildings is the education of students. School programs and other school-related activities take precedence over non-school group use.
Types of permitted non school activities:
Athletic or activity programs from schools in Jackson County School District 5;
Programs for District students involved in clubs associated with school programs;
Community youth and adult teams, club or activities sponsored through the Ashland Parks and Recreation Department or the Ashland Family YMCA;
Adult or youth programs (clubs or teams) not sponsored by any of the above
Schedules will not be changed to accommodate a non-school activity.
Use of classrooms will be at the discretion of the district administration.
A building supervisor, custodian or district staff member may be required to be on duty for the activity scheduled for this site. If so, fees will be charged at the rate of $40 per hour per district employee.
Use of tobacco or alcoholic beverages shall not be permitted on the premises.
Approval for use of this facility shall not be considered an endorsement of a group or organization, or the view and purposes they represent.
The superintendent or other district administrator may refuse use of a facility when it is- not in the best interests of the district.
Applicant fills out application. School board policy requires approval by district two weeks in advance of proposed times and dates.
Determine if insurance is necessary and in what amount. If insurance is necessary, certificate must be presented prior to approving rental application.
Proof of liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 per occurrence is required from the following applicants:
Other school districts;
Any individual or group conducting a class or activity for children (summer camps, individual instruction, etc.); and
Any individual or group conducting an activity that is open to the general public.
Application is approved or denied by the building principal and forwarded to district office for approval.
