On May 22, Superintendent Kelly Raymond announced her departure from the Ashland School District and shared plans to move closer to family in Washington state. Starting her tenure in 2017, Superintendent Raymond was the Ashland School Board’s unanimous choice. She brought a focus on equity, instruction, and student achievement that has served Ashland’s students well.
I’ve enjoyed my time here,” Ms. Raymond commented. “This district has a dedicated, truly excellent team of teachers, student support staff and administrators. The equity work we’ve done is particularly close to my heart. We’ve improved student achievement, restored the fund balance, and also passed an important bond together. This community is very supportive of education; thank you for all the ways that you made working here in Ashland a real pleasure.”
The school board thanks Superintendent Raymond for her service and wishes her well in the future. At the Board meeting on May 23, the school board voted unanimously to appoint Ashland Middle School principal Steve Retzlaff as acting superintendent.
The board will be meeting on Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 pm to discuss how to fill the position. Additional information will be shared at that point.
