Capoeira Classes, a Brazilian martial art
John Muir 8th grader, Tejah McCommas, will be teaching this class as a Capstone project. There will be adult supervision.
Offered for grades 4th-8th
1:45-2:30 in the Small Gym

Community volunteer, Ed Hirsch, will be hosting this club. For about six years in the 1990s, Ed taught chess to grade school children, some of as an after-school program, some of it informal coaching in school cafeterias, some of it teaching and supervising in classrooms. About two years of this was through The Berkeley Chess School. When he came up to Ashland about 2007, he coached children at John Muir School for two years, and then he moved on to coaching chess at Ashland Middle School during their lunch breaks at the library. He also has taught chess at the public library and at SOU Academy.

Animal Lovers Club
Parent volunteer, Amanda Rose, wants to share her and her daughter's passion of animals. This club will study different animals, do research, and invite guest speakers from around the valley who work with animals.

If interested please pick up a permission slip from the office. Return in person or via email. These clubs start the 16th so have your permission slip in by then. If your child decides to join after the 16th that is fine just make sure they have a permission slip.
